AJA ColorBox
AJA ColorBox is a powerful color management workhorse featuring six color pipelines to solve onset, live production, virtual production and other complex color workflows. The ColorBox is a compact and portable video processing device designed to perform LUT-based color transformations and offers advanced-level color science with AJA Color Pipeline, as well as several look management approaches including Colorfront, ORION-CONVERT, BBC, NBCU LUTs and ACES. Featuring 12G-SDI in/out and HDMI 2.0 out, ColorBox is capable of up to 4K/UltraHD 60p 10-bit YCBCr 4:2:2 and 30p 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 output, perfect for live production, on-set production, and post-production work. ColorBox’s intuitive browser-based UI makes it simple to adjust color processing settings, whether connecting directly via Ethernet, via a third-party WiFi adapter, or a third party hardware control device.
Calman Calibration Using ColorBox
The AJA ColorBox includes the powerful AJA Color Pipeline which features 7 nodes to adjust and process video signals. When driven by Calman, it primarily works with two nodes: the 3D LUT and a 1D LUT. Calman can calibrate displays in both video and full ranges. To set up the ColorBox, ensure it’s on the same network as your Calman host and configure the ColorBox settings via its web user interface. Calibrating with ColorBox can be done using its internal pattern generator/Frame Store being controlled directly by Calman or an external test pattern generator. Calman will save the entire calibration pipeline as a “Preset” within ColorBox. The preset includes the generated 1D and 3D LUT files and AJA Color Pipeline settings. Up to 10 different preset Calibrations can be stored and easily recalled on ColorBox.
